3 Recent Buys - AQN, GE, MDT

OK, I'm almost done buying in 2016. Perhaps one more additional purchase coming in last days of the year, but here are three mini buys from mid-December. I have added more shares to my existing positions in Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp (AQN.TO), General Electric Company (GE) and Medtronic plc (MDT).

Dividend Income - November 2016

It's time to publish the last dividend income report during 2016! Next report will see daylight in the first days of new year 2017. Last year in November I was able to collect $117.62. Back then I had high yielding Kinder Morgan Inc (KMI) and HCP Inc (HCP) bringing in over $30. In fact that was the very last dividend I received from KMI, since I terminated my position after their dividend cut. Either HCP no longer exists in my portfolio, so I had some serious patching to do. But luckily I can state that I managed to increase my income from last year. In total 12 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of November 2015 and 2016 dividends:

Dec 3, 2016

5 Recent Buys - AQN, ES, MDT, WPC, XEL

All right, here we go again. Change of month usually means more active times for me on the buying front. Going from November till December was no exception. I have bought more shares in Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN.TO), Eversource Energy (ES), Medtronic plc (MDT), W.P. Carey (WPC) and Xcel Energy (XEL).

Nov 19, 2016

2 Recent Buys - KO, UNA

More than a week after the unexpected elections in the US the market in general keeps climbing higher. S&P 500 index for example is practically at ATH (all time high) level. It's impossible to buy anything in these conditions right? Well, not quite so I think. I have made two small additional purchases to my existing positions in The Coca-Cola Company (KO) and Unilever N.V. (UNA.AS).

Nov 10, 2016

4 Recent Buys - JNJ, O, ORI, XEL

So, Mr. Trump won the presidential election in the US, if you didn't know yet, hah! Frankly speaking I thought that Clinton will win. And then the second surprise for me was that Trump's victory very quickly turned into a stock market rally. It's a good thing that I didn't make big moves based on what I thought will happen. No, that's not my kind of strategy. I just keep buying more shares and grow my passive income stream. I have added to my existing positions in        Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Realty Income (O), Old Republic International (ORI) and Xcel Energy (XEL).

Dividend Income - October 2016

Time to summarize again! I must say that I'm rather excited to write down the dividend income from October. Yes, I finally received the second half of Telia Company payment, which means that all Nordic dividends this year are now in.

Last year in October I managed to collect $92.30. At the time I had high yielding Biomed Realty Trust (BMR) bringing in $9.10 and low yielding Baxalta (BXLT) bringing $1.40. These are no longer in my portfolio, but luckily patching up these holes was not really a problem. In total 15 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of October 2015 and 2016 dividends:

Nov 5, 2016

7 Recent Buys - CU, ENB, AMGN, CVS, GILD, MMM, TGT & 1 Sale - NSC

Well, like you can see in the headline, beginning of November has been a busy one in Div Lord's portfolio. Not surprisingly I have added more shares to several positions, but the big news is that I have also sold one position: Norfolk Southern Corporation (NSC). On the buying front I was active in the following securities: Canadian Utilities (CU.TO), Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO), Amgen Inc (AMGN), CVS Health Corporation (CVS), Gilead Sciences Inc (GILD), 3M Company (MMM) and Target Corporation (TGT).

Oct 29, 2016

4 Recent Buys - ABT, NOK, OHI, UNA

Here is a collection of my purchases from mid till late October. At this time I didn't have much capital to allocate, so just four small buys that add to my existing positions: Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Nokia (NOK.HE), Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) and Unilever N.V. (UNA.AS).

Oct 9, 2016

5 Recent Buys - EMA, CVS, GIS, T, UNA

All right folks, I have made some purchases again. The big news is that I have started a new position in Emera Incorporated (EMA.TO). Additions to my existing positions occurred in CVS Health Corporation (CVS), General Mills Inc (GIS), AT&T Inc (T) and Unilever NV (UNA.AS).

Dividend Income - September 2016

Three quarters of 2016 completed, only one more to go. So we are not very far from the moment when it's time to wrap up the full year. But not just yet! Last year in September I managed to collect $124.57.

Looking for an improvement again, but there are some changes in my portfolio that made it a bit tricky. Compared to last year, relatively high yielding stocks Avista (AVA), Chevron (CVX) and ConocoPhillips (COP) are wiped off the table. Then again there are also newcomers in my portfolio; in total 17 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of September 2015 and 2016 dividends:

Sep 25, 2016

4 Recent Buys - BNS, CSCO, RSG, XEL

More buys! I have been tuning up my dividend machine throughout September. Here is a report of four tiny purchases. All these add to my existing positions: The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO), Cisco Systems Inc (CSCO), Republic Services Inc (RSG) and Xcel Energy Inc (XEL).

Dividend Income - August 2016

Image courtesy of Sira Anamwong at FreeDigitalPhotos.net
Time to summarize dividend income again! Last year in August I managed to collect $153.60. This includes extra dividend of 40€ from one of my Nordic positions: Metso. And you guessed it; this year there was no extra dividend. Additionally KMI's and TGH's high yield dividends are wiped out this year, so as a result it was not possible to reach August 2015 numbers. Still I came rather close with 12 companies paying. Here is the comparison table of August 2015 and 2016 dividends:

Sep 4, 2016

4 Recent Buys - AGU, AQN, MDT, XEL

Starting September with a Bang! Hah, well, perhaps that was a bit an exaggeration. But indeed I have continued to add more parts to my dividend machine. That machine now grinds out about $2,850 per year. I purchased additional shares of Agrium Inc (AGU.TO), Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp (AQN.TO), Medtronic plc and Xcel Energy Inc (XEL). Here are the transaction details:

Aug 27, 2016

3 Recent Buys - ES, KO, XEL

Here are my purchases during the latter half of August. Wow, looks like I should have waited for the FED and Yellen with my buys, hah! Well, anyways, I bought more shares to my existing positions in Eversource Energy (ES), The Coca-Cola Company (KO) and Xcel Energy Inc (XEL).

Aug 14, 2016

5 Recent Buys - AMGN, CVS, JNJ, TGT, XEL & 1 Sale - TGH

All right, this August turned out to be one busy month when it comes to investments. I'm reporting second new position and second closed position this month! Wow, wasn't able to imagine this in late July when planning next moves. But here it is; the newcomer in my portfolio is Xcel Energy Inc (XEL) and goodbye I said to Textainer Group Holdings Ltd (TGH).

Aug 6, 2016

5 Recent Buys - CU, CVS, ES, TGT, UNA & 1 Sale - HCP

Big news! I have started a new position in Canadian Utilities Ltd. (CU.TO) but also closed out one position: HCP Inc (HCP). Additional shares I bought in CVS Health Corp (CVS), Eversource Energy (ES), Target Corp (TGT) and Unilever NV (UNA.AS).

Dividend Income - July 2016

The month of July is over and it's time to report dividend income! First month of a new quarter. These are traditionally my lower income months. Last year in July I managed to collect $96.16. This includes two relatively high yielding dividends from REITs that no longer exist in my portfolio. Additionally July 2015 was the last month when Baxter International (BAX) payed a decent dividend before splitting into two companies. These factors made it difficult to make a large improvement over last year. However, still moving in right direction. Here is the comparison table of July 2015 and 2016 dividends:

Jul 30, 2016

4 Recent Buys - AMGN, CVS, GILD, UNA

Buying stocks when general market is at ATH level is not the most pleasant thing, but what can you do. Britain leaving the EU wasn't enough to stop equities marching higher and higher, even though analysts thought that it would bring a lot of uncertainty and volatility. You could also interpret that as lower stock prices. Well, none of that has really materialized so far. I have added more shares to my existing positions in Amgen Inc (AMGN), CVS Health Corporation (CVS), Gilead Sciences (GILD) and Unilever NV (UNA.AS).

Jul 8, 2016

2 Recent Buys - CVS, RY

Opening a new position doesn't occur frequently for me nowadays. But now I have such an event to report since I have bought two shares of CVS Health Corporation (CVS). Additionally I have purchased two more shares of Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO). Here are the details:

Dividend Income - June 2016

The month of June is in the books now, which means we are halfway through the year. Amazing, but let's see how my dividend income unfolded. Once again the goal was to crush last year's numbers. Those numbers show $119,56 for the June of 2015. There were two relatively high yielding companies Avista (AVA) and ConocoPhillips (COP) bringing in about $20. Those companies no longer exist in my portfolio, so the challenge was to replace that income. 17 companies paid dividend to me this month. Here is the comparison table of June 2015 and 2016 dividends:

Jul 2, 2016

3 Recent Buys - ABT, OHI, T

Has anyone heard of "Brexit"-referendum? HAHA! I guess you have. Unfortunately I didn't have cash ready on my brokerage account when that unexpected result came. Markets all over the world took a nice little nosedive. I knew that my cash will be ready about a week after referendum. I thought that it will be quite enough to take advantage of the market collapse. And totally wrong I was.

Dividend Income - May 2016

All right, I'm a little bit late with May summary. Lot of transactions this month, and I wanted to report them all and get portfolio up to date. But now to dividends.  After April's different kind of dividend report we are back to 'normal'. No big annual dividends, but only quarterly and monthly payments from my North American investments. In fact they are at the center when I'm building my financial future.

Last year in May I was able to collect $103.87. Kinder Morgan (KMI) is haunting me again since last year it was my biggest payer in May. And it no longer exists in my portfolio. Despite that I'm looking for clear improvement over last year. Let's see, here are those 12 companies that paid dividend to me this month:

Jun 16, 2016

6 Recent Buys - ABT, AMGN, BNS, MMM, TGT, UNA

After closing out my position in Chevron (CVX) I had a nice pile of cash to redeploy. I have added to existing positions in Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Amgen Inc (AMGN), Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO), 3M Company (MMM), Target Corp (TGT) and Unilever (UNA.AS). All right, here are the details of my transactions this week:

Jun 12, 2016

2 Recent Buys - CSCO, WPC & 1 Sale - CVX

I don't like selling stocks, but now I have one sale to report. Last week Chevron (CVX) hit the limit order I had set, and so it was time to say goodbye to this oil & gas giant. I have also made two additional purchases in Cisco Systems (CSCO) and W.P. Carey (WPC).

Jun 4, 2016

4 Recent Buys - AGU, AMGN, AQN, MDT

Hello folks! Here is a collection of my recent purchases. I have added to my existing positions in Agrium Inc (AGU.TO), Amgen Inc (AMGN), Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN.TO) and Medtronic plc (MDT).

May 8, 2016

4 Recent Buys - AMGN, GILD, MMM, UNA

My strategy is to constantly add more shares to positions in my portfolio. So, it's a pleasure to announce that once again I have managed to buy more of some quality companies. In fact I have added to my existing positions in Gilead Sciences (GILD), 3M Company (MMM) and Unilever (UNA.AS). But there is also one newcomer: Amgen Inc (AMGN). OK, here is the summary of my recent acitivity:

May 2, 2016

Dividend Income - April 2016

It's time to report dividends again! This will be the first time I report my annual Nordic dividends, so this is going to look a bit different. Last year in April I collected $1,390.07. Compared to last year I currently have one Nordic position less. And Telia arranged a small surprise by moving into semi-annual distributions. Additionally my biggest dividend payer, Fortum, reduced dividend from last year. These events wiped over $200 off the table this April. So, yes, reaching last year's numbers turned out to be impossible, but let's see how I survived. Not all these companies paid dividend in April, but to keep things as straightforward and comparable as possible, I will report these 21 companies:

Portfolio Review - April 2016

Hello to everyone! I have made three buys since last post, but most importantly let's see how my portfolio looks like in April of 2016. First, the total value of my direct stock investments: $62,212 with an average yield of 3,95%. From last month value is up $1,211 or 2,0%. Again no currency conversions, so the total value consists of EUR, USD and CAD investments. I try to ignore currency fluctuations when I monitor my progress. But as we know EUR is stronger than USD and USD is stronger than CAD. So if you think about the total value as USD, that gives rather good image.

Apr 9, 2016

8 Recent Buys - RY, ABT, ADM, GIS, MMM, ORI, PG, TGT & 1 Sale - AVA

Looks like I have quite a few transactions to report. Yes, I have been busy buying stuff, and a little bit selling too. Kind of sad to say that I sold my Avista Corporation (AVA) shares. There are some reasons, but let's get to them later in this post. On the other end I have made several additional purchases to my positions listed here:

Apr 2, 2016

Dividend Income - March 2016

Time to summarize Div Lord's March dividends! Last year I collected $106.16. One significant dividend payer is out of the game, since in December I closed out my position in ConocoPhillips (COP). In March 2015 it payed $11.68. Additionally I have sold my shares in Chambers Street Properties (CSG) and Pengrowth Energy (PGH), but I have worked hard to patch the hole left by those sales. In fact compared to last year's March, I now have six new dividend payers: MMM, ADM, EMR, ENB.TO, GILD and NSC. Here are those 18 companies that paid dividend to me this month:

Mar 20, 2016

Portfolio Review - March 2016

Hello folks! It's been a while. I have made one buy since last post which I will reveal here, but most importantly let's see how my portfolio looks like in the mid March of 2016. First, the total value of my direct stock investments: $61,001 with an average yield of 3,98%. Again no currency conversions, so the total value consists of EUR, USD and CAD investments. I try to ignore currency fluctuations when I monitor my progress. But as we know EUR is stronger than USD and USD is stronger than CAD. So if you think about the total value as USD, that gives rather good image.

6 Recent Buys - AGU, AQN, BNS, RCI.B, GIS, MDT

Looks like the stock market is calming down after wild swings in January and February. S&P 500 is heading back towards numbers beginning with 2. In fact it sits now at 1999.99. Of course all this calming down could be over next week. Anyways, I have made several purchases again. I have added more shares to my positions in Agrium Inc (AGU.TO), Algonquin Power & Utilities (AQN.TO), Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO), Rogers Communications Inc (RCI.B.TO), General Mills Inc (GIS) and Medtronic plc (MDT).

Mar 2, 2016

Dividend Income - February 2016

It's time to report February 2016 dividends! In December dark shadow descended upon this month's income, when Kinder Morgan (KMI) announced 75% dividend cut. I didn't stay at the company to collect the reduced dividend, but sold all my shares. In fact last year KMI was my biggest dividend payer in the months of Feb, May, Aug and Nov! In February 2015 I was able to collect $85.15 and KMI's portion was remarkable at $15.75. So, now that dividend is wiped off the table, let's see how I managed to replace it. Here are those 11 companies that paid dividend to me this February:

Feb 28, 2016

2 Recent Buys - MDT, KO

According to my strategy this year I intend to increase weight in consumer and healthcare sectors. And now I have followed that strategy by two recent purchases. I have started a new position in Medtronic PLC (MDT). I have also made a tiny additional purchase in The Coca-Cola Company (KO).

Feb 18, 2016

2 Recent Buys - ABT, CSCO

Here comes a couple mini-purchases from first half of February. Looks like market roller coaster is heading back up for a change. I have been chasing some consumer staples, but unfortunately they seem to hold their ground incredibly well in all market conditions. However I was able to add a little bit of technology and healthcare. I have bought more shares to my positions in Abbott Laboratories (ABT) and Cisco Systems Inc (CSCO).

Feb 7, 2016

5 Recent Buys - ENB, ADM, GILD, MMM, NOK

One week into February. Overall market seems to continue in nervous mode it adopted in January. I didn't let that distract however. I have initiated two new positions! They are 3M Company (MMM) and Nokia Corp (NOK.HE). Additionally I have bought more Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO), Archer-Daniels Midland Co (ADM) and Gilead Sciences Inc (GILD).

Feb 1, 2016

Dividend Income - January 2016

Here comes Div Lord's first dividend report of 2016! January is traditionally my slowest month of a year. Last year this month I collected only $54.62. I still missed $100 mark, but on the positive side I pulled together a decent percentage increase from last year. All right, here are the 12 companies that paid dividend to me this January:

Jan 21, 2016

4 Recent Buys - ADM, JNJ, PG, UN

Situation on the stock markets is getting really interesting. Last year we saw a couple of corrections, like in August and September, but the market recovered really quickly close to ATH numbers. It looks like this time the dive is going to last longer, at least. We might have some wonderful buying opportunities ahead this year! In last post I wrote about selling my Baxalta (BXLT) shares. Now it was time re-allocate that money. I bought more Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Procter & Gamble (PG) and Unilever (UN)

Jan 14, 2016

Recent Sale - BXLT

On Monday it was officially declared that Shire Plc (SHPG) acquires Baxalta Inc (BXLT). In $32B deal Baxalta shareholders will receive $18 per share in cash plus 0.1482 shares of Shire stock. This would give me an opportunity to become a shareholder in SHPG. The company pays semi-annual dividend and yields 0.14%. Ok, I didn't need to dig deeper. Clearly this is not my kind of stock, so the conclusion was to sell my shares in BXLT.

Jan 10, 2016

4 Recent Buys - ABT, ADM, GILD, OHI

Now I can only wish that I had waited with my buys a little bit, but on the other hand I have never even tried to time the market. Stocks go up and down, and this time they definitely went down after my purchases. This was the worst opening week ever, S&P 500 finishing with 6% decline. Anyways, the most important thing is that I increased my dividend income again by investing in some quality companies. I added to my position in Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Archer-Daniels Midland Co (ADM), Gilead Sciences Inc (GILD) and
Omega Healthcare Investors Inc (OHI).

Jan 6, 2016

5 Recent Buys - RY, GIS, HCP, PG, T

What a crunchy start for 2016! We have enough frost here in the northern Europe, and on the first trading day Mr. Market decided to give a little discount on the stock prices. I wasn't against that and bought all kinds of stuff. I have added to my position in Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO), General Mills (GIS), HCP Inc (HCP), Procter & Gamble (PG), AT & T (T).

Dividend Income - December & Full Year 2015

First of all: Happy New Year folks! 2015 is now neatly packaged and wrapped up. The year certainly delivered many nice dividend increases, but also some freezes and cuts. When we started 2015 I could not have imagined the number of sale transactions I'm going to make! All in all, I believe and hope that 2016 will be a better year!

December of 2014 was a record month for me with $140.32 income. So improving from there wasn't just a walk in a park. Well, I managed to collect more this December, but is it enough to reach the yearly goal of $2,600? Let's find out! Here are those 18 companies that paid dividend to me this December:
